Making Car Insurance Claim in UK

This report might be useful for people living in UK. If you do not have enough luck and get yourself into a car accident, you may need to know several things that may help you to claim your car insurance easily. Not preparing these things might end you up having less car insurance claim or a delayed claim.

Personal Injury
Of course this is the first thing you should do, and in fact the things that you naturally do when you have a car accident. Check is there any injury in your body and other passenger in your car. Do this first before you go to yell at the other driver!

Call the ambulance if there is severe injury. Don’t forget to keep the medical report as a part of the car insurance claim.

Police Assistance
If you think a police assistance is necessary you should call the police immediately. This is of course, depending on the situation. Calling the police might be considered a wise move to investigate who is at fault in the car accident.

Call Your Car Insurance Company
According to the law in UK, you need to have a copy of your car insurance policy in the car all the time. On that policy you can find a 24 hour contact number. Call the company ask for assistance on the things or procedures you have to go through to make a claim.

Have witnesses or evidence
You should also take the names and phone number of witnesses surrounding you in order to help you to make the claim. A photograph of the accident scene is also a good evidence. Of course if there is a police, you could focus on taking care of yourself and other passengers while the police do this.

Car Repair
Depending on your car insurance coverage, you may or may not get a car repair coverage. Sometimes you will also need to get your car repaired at a certain garage if you would like to have the claim. You need to check with the car insurance company if in doubt. If you have car repair coverage, do not forget to keep the receipt.

Keep all receipts
It is a wise move to keep all receipts from any expenses that you have. You may not get the reimbursement of all of them, but it is wise to keep them all. You don’t want to throw away a receipt that you could get the reimbursement, do you?
